After weeks of training the big day had arrived!
School Cross Country Day!
Houses assembled on the court for a quick run down of how the event would proceed. House leaders did a great job keeping their teams calm and orderly. The weather was superb!
We all walked up behind the school onto Alexander's farm.
Here comes Sam

Joel puts his all to finishing well
as does BaylySchool Cross Country photos were taken by a dedicated photographer who also had to deal with any first-aid issues, so many photo opportunities were missed. These were all the photos that Room 6 students appeared in. All of the Room 6 students who took part displayed courage and perseverance and should all be very proud of finishing the difficult course!!
As a result of the school event the first 6 Y3/4 girls and first 6 Y3/4 boys went on to compete in the Napier and Districts event at Park Island. There were approximately 100 runners per race! Our girls did remarkably well - Makayla came 2nd, Georgie came 6th, Greer came 7th, Abby came 16th and Amber came 17th! Amazing! These incredible results saw Puketapu School's Y3/4 Girls winning the entire event! The story is not quite over. The first 20 runners in each age group then went on to compete at the Hawke's Bay Cross Country event. The Year 3 and 4's ran separate races at this event. Our girls did amazingly well! Amber came 2nd in the Y3 girls race! Our Y4 girls did remarkably well too - Makayla came 2nd, Abby came 12th, Georgie came 14th and Greer came 18th!
Look at these two! Makayla(Y4) and Amber(Y3) both came second place in their races in the HB Champs! They each received a beautiful silver medal at the prize giving ceremony. Unbelievable!
Bring on next year's Cross Country events!!
